Love local races and being part of the action on race day? Run the East is hiring Race Timers to help support running events across Eastern North Carolina.

We’re a professional race timing & event management company, and we’re growing our team for the upcoming season. No prior timing experience is required—we provide training and mentorship. Many of our team members are runners, coaches, teachers, or people who enjoy hands-on, active work on weekends.

All new team members start as Assistant Timers, with opportunities to advance to Lead Timer roles over time.

Position Details:

Location: Greenville, NC, travel to race locations throughout Eastern NC

Position type: Event/gig based (1099 contractor)

Schedule: Primarily weekends and some holidays

What You’ll Do on Race Day

• Travel to race locations with the timing team

• Assist the Lead Timer with race setup and operations

• Help set up, monitor, and break down timing equipment

• Provide directions and support to volunteers and participants

• Operate backup timing systems to ensure accurate results

• Load and unload timing equipment as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, reliable, and customer-service oriented

• Comfortable with early mornings and outdoor work

• Able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

• Interest in learning new systems and working as part of a team

• Running or race experience is a plus—but not required. We’re happy to train the right people.
