|Details||On Monday April 15, 2013 the 117th running of the Boston Marathon was marred by tragedy. This tragedy impacted many lives around the globe. Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts developed the One Fund to raise money to assist victims of the attack. The Run for One 5K is a local effort born out of one runner’s need to give back. Greenville, North Carolina runner Dionne Evans crossed the Boston Marathon finish line minutes before the first bomb exploded. Upon returning home, Dionne along with her running partner, Rhonda Cardinale, felt compelled to try and make a difference. In creating the Run for One 5K they hope to raise funds to help amputees get back into an active lifestyle. The proceeds will go to assist amputees from the Boston Marathon tragedy as well as amputees right here in North Carolina.
